About a year ago, I had just concluded a meeting and had to be in another in 20 minutes.
15 minutes to the meeting, I received a call from an unfamiliar number.
It turned out to be a telephone interview.
Although it did not go well due to time and location constraints, I had learnt.
After that call, I mastered the etiquette of phone interviews which exposed me to several career opportunities including my present job.
In telephone interviews, the chance to make a lasting impression relies heavily on your verbal communication skills as the recruiter cannot read your body language and expressions over the phone.
Attached are tips to ace your next phone interview, which are also essential for HR professionals because no matter the years of experience, It’s a different ball game when interviewing for your next HR role.

Running a practice interview prior your appointment/recording yourself on the phone will help detect behaviors such as speaking too quickly, mumbling or using filler words such as ‘umm’, ‘like’.
Manners are important. Avoid eating, chewing gum, playing music or even flushing the WC as this can be very off putting for the interviewer.
How was your last phone interview? Were you ready?
