Preparing for a job interview can be a scary thing. The idea of sitting face-to-face with your potential employer and being grilled by questions is enough to make anyone a little nervous.

In search for answers to how best one can prepare for an interview, alot of misconceptions and myths are provided. These myths leave applicants more scared and tensed.

We’ve got a list of 5 common Interview Myths

Myth #1: You can never be late

Life happens. You can be late provided you informed the hiring manager or recruiter ahead via a call or mail.

Myth #2: You’re a good speaker/an extrovert, the interview will be easy.

If you speak well but know nothing about the company or have vague goals, you will definitely lose out. A stutterer with a clear vision, whose competencies match what is required, will get the job.

Myth #3: You must always give the right answers.

The fact is, there are good answers, bad answers, and answers that will get you the job. Try not answering the questions correctly but intelligently.

Myth #4: High grades + degree = congratulations you’ve the job.

Sure you know the founders of Facebook, Microsoft, and Apple didn’t graduate from college. No matter your grades, if you can’t sell yourself, your skills and show how valuable you’ll be to the company, the job isn’t yours.

Myth #5: The most qualified person gets the job

Reality check: Oftentimes, the most-connected person gets the job. In some cases, the process had already ended before it even began.
